Facebook brings 360-degree photos to News Feed
Facebook has finally rolled out 360-degree photos. The social networking giant is now allowing users to upload and view 360-degree photos right in their News Feed. Users have to capture a panorama or 360-degree photo on their smartphone either using the default camera or any third party apps such as 360 photo app or 360 camera and upload it directly to Facebook as a regular image.
Facebook will automatically convert it into an immersive 360 photo. The 360-degree photos are 360 photos are easy to identify in News Feed as such photos will have a compass icon on the right-hand side of the photo. The 360-degree photos can be viewed by clicking and dragging on the web and tapping and dragging the photo or by moving the device on a smartphone.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted a 360 degree photo of Manhattan taken from the top on the World Trade Centre on his News Feed, stating, "Today we're starting to roll out 360 photos worldwide across Facebook. These are similar to 360 videos - you can tilt your phone and feel like you're actually there. You can also check them out in virtual reality for a fully immersive experience. The big difference with 360 photos is you can take them with your phone. Just take a panorama or use a 360 camera app, then post it to Facebook and we'll take care of the rest."
